The fundamental principle in organic agriculture is
that all products used in cultivation (fertilisers, fungicides etc.)
must be of an organic nature,
in other words not chemically produced. Thus the environment is respected and the food is effectively without trace of pesticides.
In our case we use
Bordeaux Mixture or similar products) and powdered sulphur as a fungicide, and organic fertilisers such as residues from sugar beetprocessing (borlanda),
algae, residues from the manufacture of animal hide (cuoiattoli), etc.
The rules and techniques of organic cultivation are evolving, however, in the light of present knowledge, aiming to improve the balance of the environment and to give better food products.
